About This Course
This topic deepens learners’ understanding of motion under the influence of forces, extending into projectile motion, variable acceleration, and systems with friction and tension. It connects mathematical modelling with real-world physics applications.
Learning Outcomes:
The learner should be able to:
- Explore how to determine the resultant velocity of bodies in space and when crossing a river in different cases.
- Explore relative velocity, true velocity and relative displacement of bodies at any time.
- Demonstrate how to obtain the position, course and time of collision of two bodies using the vectorial or geometrical approach.
- Determine the distance, time and course for closest approach.
- Discuss the terms used in projectiles (range, maximum height, time of flight, maximum range)
- Review the equations of linear motion and resolution of vectors.
- Use the equations of motion to solve projectiles in the vertical, horizontal and at an angle to the horizontal.
- Apply the equations of linear motion to solve problems involving projectiles in the real world.
