Mappings and Relations
Free
About This Course
This topic introduces learners to the foundational concepts of mappings (functions) and relations. Students will explore the idea of inputs and outputs using arrow diagrams, ordered pairs, and tables. They will learn the difference between one-to-one, many-to-one, one-to-many, and many-to-many relationships. Emphasis is placed on identifying whether a given relation is a function and representing mappings using diagrams, graphs, and algebraic expressions.
Learning Outcomes:
The learner should be able to:
- identify domain and range of a mapping.
- Use arrow diagrams/mappings to represent relations and functions.
- describe and distinguish between function and non-function mapping
- Identify different types of mappings and relations.
- Represent mappings using diagrams and algebraic notation.
- Solve problems involving domain and range.
