About This Course
Learners are introduced to the concepts of geometric similarity and enlargement (dilation). They explore properties of similar shapes and understand how scale factors affect length, area, and volume. Students also learn to perform and describe enlargements on the coordinate plane.
Learning Outcomes:
The learner should be able to:
- identify similar figures and calculate scale factors.
- state and use the properties of similar figures.
- define enlargement.
- state the properties of enlargement to construct objects and images.
- understand and use the relationship between linear, area and volume scale factors.
- Perform enlargements on 2D figures.
- Solve geometric problems involving similar triangles.
- Apply enlargement in practical design and modelling contexts.
