About This Course
This topic introduces students to the basic concepts of trigonometry in right-angled triangles. Learners will understand and apply the primary trigonometric ratios: sine, cosine, and tangent. Using these ratios, students will solve problems involving heights, distances, and angles. Emphasis is placed on understanding the sides of right-angled triangles relative to an angle, and how these ratios can be applied in practical scenarios such as construction, navigation, and surveying.
Learning Outcomes:
The learner should be able to:
- derive sine, cosine and tangent functions from the unit circle.
- Define sine, cosine, and tangent with respect to a right-angled triangle.
- read and uses calculators to find values of trigonometric functions.
- use sine, cosine and tangent in calculating lengths of sides and angles of right-angled triangles.
- find angles of elevation and depression.
- Solve real-life problems involving right-angled triangles and indirect measurements.
